Due to the applicants’ refusal to pick them up, more than 30,000 printed Ghanaian passports are collecting dust at the passport application centers in Accra and Kumasi.
The passport office informed the applicants that their passports were prepared, but they had yet to pick them up.
The growing number of printed passports that have not been collected worries the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integrations, which oversees the passport office.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged all passport applicants who had not yet picked up their passports to do so as soon as possible because they will be needed for future renewals in a statement dated Monday, January 30, 2023.
30th January 2023, Accra The general public, in particular passport applicants, are thus informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the urgency with which they must pick up their printed passports from the various Passport Application Centers (PACs).
Although applicants have received text messages stating that their passports have been printed and sent to the various Passport Application Centers, the Ministry is worried that the majority of them have not yet been picked up. There are over thirty thousand (30,000) passport application centers between Accra and Kumasi.
In light of the aforementioned, the Ministry is urging passport applicants who have not yet picked up their passports to do so as soon as possible because they will be needed for future renewal.
Passport applicants can also phone the Ministry’s Client Service Unit at 024 079 3072 or 024 091 3284 to find out the status of their applications.
