The 25 invited players participated in the first open training session Chris Hughton and his team hosted on Tuesday night.
All of the athletes posed with a banner that read “RIP Christian Atsu” after the day’s practice to show their respect for their late countryman.

On February 18, 2023, Atsu’s death was officially declared when his lifeless body was discovered after the earthquake in Turkey.
After the terrible earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria in mid-February, there had been days of active search.
On Friday, March 17, 2022, the former winger for Chelsea and Newcastle United was buried in his native Ada.
In 65 games for his nation, Atsu scored nine goals. He also participated in several AFCON competitions including the FIFA World Cup.

In the meanwhile, Ghana will take on Angola in a pair of AFCON qualifiers in the coming days.
In an effort to secure a spot in the tournament for the following year, the Black Stars will host Angola on March 23 in Kumasi before playing the Black Antelopes four days later in Luanda.
