A boat carrying passengers from Dorkorchina to Kpandai overturned on the Black Volta, leaving five people unaccounted for and one person dead in the Savannah area.
According to NADMO, Mr. Kipo Sulemana, the district director for Bole, one person had perished, two others had escaped the tragedy, and roughly five more were still missing.
According to NADMO, the boat was overcrowded with passengers and some cargo when the catastrophe occurred.
The management of the rescue squad has started a search operation and is enlisting the aid of the community to find individuals who are still missing.
On the Volta River, there have been cases of travelers drowning in the past.
