On Thursday, May 25, 2023, a speeding train hit a taxi driver who had perilously crossed the railroad near Alajo in Acca.
The motorist, who fortunately avoided injury, was shaken by seeing his life flash before his eyes.
According Ghana Graphic Online, the train struck the stalled vehicle while it was traveling from Tema to Accra.
A brief video taken at the scene of the incident shows a large group of onlookers congregating and chatting about the situation. As the cab driver attempted to explain his position, some of the onlookers can be heard criticizing him for being reckless and almost killing himself.
“The train sustained minor damage and no passengers suffered injury. After a brief stop to assess the impact, the conductor continued the journey to Accra,” the state-owned news outlet wrote on Twitter to caption a video of the aftermath of the near-fatal incident.
It would take some unusual repair work to get the cab back to a state where it could be considered roadworthy because it had been left twisted and with some sections dislodged. It was overheard from several onlookers that the car was irreparably damaged.
Although train accidents are very uncommon, they can result in fatalities. Numerous individuals were hurt on Monday, October 23, 2017, when a train from Nsawam headed to Accra was involved in an accident at Tesano.
Some police recruits who were on the spot for treatment sent the patients to the hospital.
