Desderia Mbwelwa, a Tanzanian, was imprisoned on Friday, June 9, 2023, prompting conflicting responses on numerous forums.
According to the BBC, the offender asked the victim where his buddies were after discovering him herding cattle in a community in the southern district of Iringa. She grabbed the little child and raped him sexually beneath a tree after hearing him say his pals weren’t there.
Mbwelwa was later detained, accused of the crime, and tried before being found guilty and given a sentence.
According to reports, the prosecutors in the east African nation relied on five witnesses, including a doctor who examined the youngster and determined he had bruises and had contracted sexual illnesses as a result of genital contamination.
The middle-aged woman’s lone defense, according to reports, was that she was an adult with dependent children and grandkids.
The sentence may be appealed, according to Mbwelwa’s attorney Frank Mwela, who claims that his client was wrongfully imprisoned since she was not tested by a doctor to determine whether she had the STIs that she is accused of infecting the young kid with.
“My client was not tested positive for those diseases, which both my client and her witness have confirmed they do not have because one of the witnesses is her husband,” the defence lawyer said.
The STDs she reportedly infected the victim with have not been made public for obvious reasons.
