According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), it was fined $80,000 by FIFA for the yellow cards that Black Stars players received while competing in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Henry Asante Twum, the Ghana GFA’s director of communications, revealed this in an interview with Accra-based Angel TV.
The Black Stars had a poor World Cup performance, coming in last place in a group that included Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
Portugal won their first match 3-2 against Otto Addo’s team, but they bounced back to defeat South Korea by the same score.
Ghana fell 2-0 to Uruguay in their final group match, despite needing a win or a draw to advance to the round of 16.
According to the Ghana FA Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, Ghana paid $80,000 in fines to FIFA for yellow cards received at the World Cup.
