Chris Hughton names squad ahead of Central African Republic qualifiers

The 25-man roster for Ghana’s national team’s next match against Central African Republic, which will take place in Kumasi, has been released by coach Chris Hughton.

The lineup includes a number of well-known players, and others are making their comebacks after recuperating from injuries. It’s interesting that Jonathan Sowah, a striker for Medeama SC, has made the team.

Sowah, a former Danbort FC player who joined Medeama SC during the second transfer window, was a key contributor to their league title triumph by tallying 12 goals.

Elisha Owusu and Baba Iddrisu are both joining the team again after getting well from injuries. Elisha Owusu has been out since suffering an injury in February; he last played for Ghana in the FIFA World Cup finals in November of the previous year. Baba Iddrisu missed the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Goalkeeper Richard Ofori, who resides in South Africa, is re-called to the team after being unable to go to Lorca, Spain, on September 27, 2022, for a pre-World Cup friendly against Nicaragua.

Thomas Partey, will not be able to join his brothers because of an injury he sustained in practice.

He will not be playing since he is receiving treatment and being watched by club administration.

The Central African Republic will visit Ghana in their final Group E match on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

As Ghana looks to claim victory in this crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, the team lineup includes both seasoned players and bright prospects.
