The pastor who was meant to officiate the marriage of his daughter to a young man stormed out of the auditorium in a huff, claiming the groom lacked the proper paperwork to legally remain in Canada. This shocked the wedding party and left them in a state of shock.
The event was documented in a video that was uploaded on TikTok, and since then, it has gained widespread attention and received a variety of responses from viewers.
The bride and her bridesmaids can also be seen standing on the opposite side of the aisle from the groom in the video, ready to accept the blessing of the presiding man of God, who also happens to be the groom’s father.
To everyone’s amazement, the pastor then began sternly questioning the young man in front of the sizable throng of attendees about whether or not he had a legal paperwork allowing him to stay in Canada. The groom responded in the negative.
The pastor left the platform after being unsatisfied with the groom’s response, kissed the bride on the cheek, and announced that he would not perform the marriage blessing.
Then, disgruntled, he began to leave the theater. He paused to inform the gathering that the bride had entered Canada unlawfully and that he would not preside over such an act.
“He doesn’t have papers; I’m not going to sit here and push my daughter ….,” the unhappy pastor said in the 48-second video, which was captioned with a question, “What just happened now?”
The video has got many TikTok users reacting, with many wondering if the pastor had not been aware of the groom’s situation beforehand or if he was just deliberately being dramatic for populism reasons.
