Thomas Partey feels proud to be part of Arsenal team that won Community Shield

Following Arsenal’s Community Shield victory, midfielder Thomas Partey stated that he is proud to be a member of the club.

The 30-year-old was at full throttle as Mikel Arteta’s side held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw before winning the Community Shield on penalties.

Partey started in midfield alongside Arsenal’s £105 million player, Declan Rice, and the two dominated the early exchanges.

However, it was Manchester City who struck first, with replacement Cole Palmer scoring in the 77th minute with a beautiful curling strike.

Arsenal, on the other hand, was able to come back, taking advantage of the extended additional time, with Leandro Trossard scoring the equalizer in the 101st minute to send the game to penalties.

In the ensuing shootout, the Gunners defeated their opponents 4-1 to win the Community Shield.

While Martin Odegaard, Trossard, Bukayo Saka, and Fabio Vieira all scored for Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri did not.

Partey took to Instagram after the game to celebrate Atsenal’s Community Shield triumph, saying he was delighted to be a part of the club.

“I’m honored to be a part of this incredible team!”

“Many thanks to everyone who has supported us,” the former Atletico Madrid player stated.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will kick off their 2023/24 Premier League season against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
